How you'll be assessed

An AI interviewer asks role-specific questions with your camera and mic on, and Mercor says this is its only screening method — there's no human-interview alternative. Your video, audio and transcript are kept and used to recommend you to employers; people enter later, when project managers review the submitted application and, for some roles, a paid work trial before an offer.

  1. 01

    Build your profile

Create an account, upload your resume and confirm work authorization. These carry over to every later application.

  2. 02

    Assessments

Structured tasks that test your judgement on realistic work. They're reused across roles — pass one and it counts everywhere it's required, and completing them can qualify you for work without applying to a specific listing.

  3. 03

    AI interview, recorded

An AI interviewer asks role-specific questions for about 20 minutes. Camera and mic are on, screen sharing may be required, and your video, audio and transcript are retained. You get three retakes per interview — shared across all applications, not per role.

  4. 04

    Submit, then human review

Steps can be done in any order, but nothing is looked at until you click Submit. Project managers review the application from there.

  5. 05

    Work trial, on some roles

A single paid assessment before an offer is issued. You're paid for only one work trial ever, and accepting one automatically declines any others.

How to prepare

  • Your interview and assessment results sync across every application that needs them and never expire — so the first attempt sets the bar for every future role that reuses it. Don't treat the first one as a throwaway.
  • You get three retakes per interview across all applications combined. Burn two on one role and you have one left everywhere else.
  • Use Chrome (Edge and Safari also work). Firefox and mobile browsers are not supported, and the Start button stays greyed out until every requirement is met.
  • Camera on with your full face visible, quiet room, headphones and an external mic. If screen sharing is asked for, only full-screen sharing works.
  • Have pen, paper and a calculator to hand — some interviews are technical, some test language or reasoning, and some include a whiteboard that saves on its own.
